Cannon Building recognizes the value in helping to build strong, healthy communities. A few times each year, employees come together to support a charitable cause, pushing up their sleeves and “putting some muscle” into actively supporting wonderful organizations like Furnishing Hope in doing their part to help others.

Recently, a team of 29 Cannon Building staff members volunteered to help Furnishing Hope move their 13,000 square-foot warehouse of donated supplies for the families they serve. These volunteers worked hand-in-hand with the Furnishing Hope warehouse staff to successfully pack, move, and reorganize the contents of the warehouse, which included all types of furniture and home elements. Over the course of two days, the team of volunteers worked efficiently to palletize and shrink-wrap items to be cued and loaded into trucks with the help of two Dunkel Bros. forklifts for safe transport.

Furnishing Hope is an Orange County-based, non-profit organization established by Beth Phillips in 2003. We are honored to have played a role in their ongoing efforts to help Wounded Warrior families, as well as mothers and children who have broken the cycle of homelessness. Furnishing Hope and key sponsors support members of the local community at that critical stage, providing them with furniture and supplies they need once they secure permanent housing.

Over the years, Furnishing Hope has created hundreds of home installations for individuals throughout the Southern California metropolitan area.

“Each week, we furnish at least two homes for families transitioning from shelters to independent living,” said Phillips. “Every donation gives children comfortable beds and provides families a kitchen table and chairs to gather around and share a meal.”

Cannon Building has assisted Beth Phillips and her Furnishing Hope team in multiple capacities over the last two decades.  

“This was a great reminder of the mission that Beth Phillips and her team have. We are proud to play a role in her ongoing efforts,” said Tim Cannon about the recent move.
