Cannon Building, a leading Life Science builder, is in the process of a large scale Design/Build expansion of Bachem’s newly acquired production facility in Vista, CA. Headquartered in Switzerland, Bachem recently purchased the facility as part of the acquisition of American Peptide Company, with operations in Vista and Sunnyvale.

The Bachem project is being managed by a Cannon Building team based in the company’s San Diego office
The project includes two 300-liter Lyophilizer solid phase solvent synthesis production trains which are being installed while the facility is in full operation, and with minimal disruption to the existing production. The new construction will be integrated into the current operating peptide manufacturing facility. The project also includes additional classified and non-classified production rooms and the redesign of the mechanical air handling and exhaust systems to support the construction of the new rooms and equipment. It also includes a building addition for receiving, and a new exterior tank farm for solvent storage and delivery.
“Upon completion, this facility will be one of the largest of its type in the western United States. Its capabilities will continue to place Bachem at the forefront of peptide manufacturers,” according to Joe Johnson, Senior Superintendent for Cannon Building.

Cannon Building is working with The Austin Company and
EXP Engineers on the project. The Austin Company is handling programming, architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical design. The solvent storage, delivery and recovery systems are designed by EXP Engineers.
