Cannon Building is proud to confirm its sponsorship of the 2015 U.S. Youth Match Racing Championship, the Rose Cup. Through this sponsorship Cannon Building establishes support for youth sailing. “As a kid sailing taught me sportsmanship, patience, and perseverance – all of which have served me well in business. We are pleased to support this program so that young sailors today have the opportunity to have the same experience,” states Tim J. Cannon, President of Cannon Building. The company’s sponsorship will provide the means for Balboa Yacht Club to host this prestigious regatta. The five day racing event will be held June 17 – 21 in Corona del Mar, CA.
The mission of the Rose Cup is to promote youth match racing in the United States, and to improve the quality of U.S. competitors in national and international sailing competition. The top three crews to place at the Rose Cup receive an invitation to race at the internationally competitive Governors Cup. The Rose Cup has helped train competitive skippers and crew, like Nevin Snow and Alex Woloshyn, for Governors Cup success. When asked about his sailing career, Governors Cup sailor Alex Woloshyn cites the Rose Cup for helping his crew break into the match racing scene.
Cannon Building extends best wishes to each team competing for the Cup. After being asked to make a prediction about the winning crew, Tim J. Cannon suggested he would be rooting for his home team from Balboa Yacht Club. Balboa Yacht Club, bowman, Jack Martin states, “My crew and I are very appreciative of Cannon Building’s support of the 2015 U.S. Youth Match Racing Championship, the Rose Cup. Without their support, this event would not be such a success, and we hope to have their support in the future for upcoming events.” Cannon Building wishes every crew the best of luck. Sail fast!
