Cannon Building celebrates groundbreaking of Meggitt office relocation

On February 25, 2020, Cannon Building celebrated the groundbreaking of the new east Irvine Meggitt offices in Irvine, California. The 52,000 SF project includes the 39,500 SF buildout of an existing warehouse space to transform it into engineering, testing, manufacturing, and assembly areas. 12,500 SF of office space is also being created for additional staff at the international aerospace defense company. The project will provide new structural improvements, all new HVAC equipment, new restrooms, and two class 100,000 cleanrooms. Construction began in February with the remodel of the front offices.

“This new facility allows Meggitt to streamline their Sensing Systems Division by optimizing their engineering and manufacturing processes,” said Cannon Building Project Manager Brian Holmes.

Cannon Building provided themed green, yellow, and orange Meggitt and Cannon Building cookies to mark the occasion and lunch was catered by the local café, Noonerz.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to head up field operations for construction of Meggitt’s new Irvine manufacturing facility. It is sure to be an exciting project, “says Brady Sorenson, superintendent for Cannon Building. Cannon Building is excited to be working with Meggitt and H. Hendy Associates during construction and is looking forward to seeing the designs come to completion. Other key subcontractors involved in the project are Laser Electric, AMS Anderson Air, B&B Plumbing, Sneary Construction, Junior Steel, and Amort Construction. The project will be complete in August 2020.
