The Crowell School of Business at Biola University was a major addition to the campus. The 32,000 SF ground-up construction of this major university building features 12 state-of-the-art classrooms with a seating capacity of 18-125, computer labs, a lecture hall, a kitchen with an outdoor eating area, and 16 faculty offices.
Cannon Building strategically updated the Arboretum with 21st century conveniences and codes while preserving the original architecture of the famed structure. Work included a voluntary seismic upgrade, installation of under-floor air conditioning, dual glazed windows, new LED lighting, new finishes, and new configurations of the worship space.
Cannon Building has worked closely with Fairmont Schools in its mission to serve the private school market in Southern California, having worked on five of its California locations:Â Anaheim Hills Campus, Historic Anaheim Main and Preschool Campuses, Fairmont Preparatory Academy, and the North Tustin Campus. All work is done to accommodate the school schedule with no interruption to classes or programs.
San Nicolas Place, Newport Beach, CA, is a prestigious, four-story office space with views of the Pacific Ocean, Fashion Island shopping center, and the surrounding mountains. The seismic upgrade of the entire structure and common area included new shear walls, carbon-fiber reinforcement of existing concrete shear walls, structural steel brace frames, a new exterior ADA entry ramp, and renovations to the bathrooms and atrium.
Cannon Building implemented Bissell Architects’ two story design-forward structure with a parking lot and drive access that included: a stage, commercial kitchen, daycare facility, and multiple offices and meeting rooms. Site safety was of particular importance as the parish school was in full operation during construction. Architectural elements include smooth plaster exterior walls, mission tile floors and exposed wood ceilings.
