Describe the last 10-15 years of your career in a snapshot.
The last 15 years have definitely been a learning journey for me in the field of construction, working for a general contractor that only had two office employees allowed me to wear many hats. I was able to gain experience in various areas within the company. My work involved accounts payable and receivables, as well as weekly payroll, RFIs, and minute-taking for pre- and post-construction client meetings. I have assisted in the creation and implementation of maintenance spreadsheets and reports for a $2 million project, keeping track of employees time, wages, and source codes. I own all processes related to MPSA, MSA, PAA, PO, and pre-qualification and have become the point-person for information or clarification. I look forward to future cross-training within Cannon to improve my awareness of the organizational roles and functions and become even more valuable to the company.
Favorite building, structure, or architectural piece, and why?
I have to admit it’s very difficult to narrow down my selection to just one, but I do have a favorite architectural style. Classical Greek architecture has always been my favorite. The open air theaters, tall columns, and such focus to detail has constantly caught my attention.
What recent innovation in any industry fascinates you, and why?
The most recent innovation that comes to mind is the hybrid flying car. The whole idea of being able to drive a vehicle and at the touch of a button, you are airborne… this is awesome! Can you imagine how this will change how we function as a society? Buildings and cities will be designed to accommodate this new way of traveling and quite likely, the construction industry will have to change along with it.
What are a few of your passions or hobbies?
