The last fifteen years have definitely been a learning journey for me in the field of construction, working for a General Contractor that only had two office employees allowed me to wear many hats. I was able to gain experience in various areas within the company. My work involved accounts payable and receivables as well as weekly payroll, creating RFI’s and taking minutes for pre and post Construction Client meetings. I have assisted in the creation and implementation of maintenance spreadsheets and reports for a 2 million dollar project, keeping track of employees time, wages and source codes. Fully owning all Processes regarding the MPSA, MSA, PAA, PO and Prequalification becoming the go to person when in need of information or clarification. Looking forward to future cross-training within Cannon to improve my awareness of the organizational roles and functions making me even more valuable to the company.
Favorite building, structure, or architectural piece, and why?
I have to admit it’s very difficult to narrow down my selection to just one, but I do have a favorite architectural style. Classical Greek architecture has always been my favorite. The open air theatres, tall columns and such focus to detail has constantly caught my attention.
What recent innovation in any industry fascinates you, and why?
The most recent innovation that comes to mind is the Hybrid Flying Cars. The whole idea of being able to drive your vehicle and at the touch of a button your airborne… Awesome! Can you imagine how this will change how we function as a society? Buildings and cities will be designed to accommodate the new way of traveling, more and likely changing the construction industry along with it.
