Mindy’s journey into the construction industry is a testament to resilience, adaptability, and the power of following your passion. Join us as we celebrate Mindy’s contributions and her inspiring path in a traditionally male-dominated field.
Every successful bid response at Cannon Building depends on teamwork, and Mindy Nguyen is the one who keeps it all running smoothly. As our Estimating Coordinator, she expertly manages countless details, working across departments to ensure seamless coordination. Her reliability, precision, and commitment set a high standard, helping bring our clients’ visions to life.
Mindy’s journey into the construction industry wasn’t a traditional one. She originally earned a degree in Computer Information Systems and began her career in IT. However, while working for a small construction firm in Orange County, she found herself taking on multiple roles, supporting IT, managing the office, and learning to read blueprints under the direction of the project managers. As the company grew, so did her involvement in construction, and she ultimately chose to specialize in procurement, allowing her to be more hands-on in the industry.
Since Mindy joined Cannon Building in 2014, she has played an essential role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our estimating process. She thrives on the collaborative nature of construction, finding fulfillment through her interactions with clients, subcontractors, and her colleagues. Mindy’s ability to juggle multiple priorities, keep things organized, and work seamlessly across teams has made her an integral part of Cannon Building’s estimating team.
For Mindy, being a woman in construction means feeling strong, empowered, and independent. Over the years, she has seen the industry evolve and become more inclusive, yet she acknowledges that construction remains a male-dominated environment. Her advice to women considering a career in the field? “Don’t be intimidated; be yourself and go for it!” She believes that confidence, resilience, and a willingness to learn are key to thriving in this industry.
When asked about her proudest achievement, Mindy doesn’t name a single project but instead reflects on her involvement in the many important projects that Cannon Building has built over the years. Being part of the company’s growth and success is something she takes great pride in. She also credits her colleagues for their mentorship and support, encouraging her to develop new skills and expand her industry knowledge. Their support has helped her navigate challenges and excel in her role.
Mindy’s contributions to Cannon Building are invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful for her dedication, hard work, and the positivity she brings to our team. Thank you, Mindy, for all that you do!
